Awaiting Lunch . . .

Cafe Septieme, Broadway, Seattle.
I remember not so many years ago I would sit here every night reading my computer magazines from cover to cover. During the birth and rise of the Internet all was prosperous, work plentiful, and I seemed to be happy, driven.
Now, many years later, so much has changed; but this place has not. It is important to relish these times, for as permanent as something may seem, change comes swiftly.
Sometimes the change is welcome; many times it is not. We are creatures of change -- ironic since it is we that try to cling so hard to the known, the simple, the comfortable.
But without change, there is no growth. Although I am infinitely poorer and my life teeters on that dangerous high wire I love so much to walk, I am grateful that I can record these places and capture the feeling of these moments gone by.
I never picked up a pen in those days except to endorse my paycheck; I am so very glad that change has prompted me to pick up that pen and use it to capture that which I know will never remain the same for long.
